In the fall of 1988, an avid “Ford Man” got together with several local enthusiasts to discuss the possibility of a Ford Club in Moncton. On January 9th, 1989, the first official meeting was attended by twenty six persons. A Club was formed which later became the “Performance Ford Club of Canada – Eastern Division with Alex Kilpatrick as Director and Paul Forgrave as President.
The PFCC Spring Meet of 89 was held across the street from Taylor Ford and there were 50 cars which was not bad for a first try. The 89 Fall Meet, held at the same location had 61 vehicles attending despite a rainy day.
Although the two meets had gone, many members were not happy with the amount of money from membership fees and profits that the national headquarters were expecting the club to send them. It was felt that money raised should stay in this area to benefit local charities.
In February 1990, the first official meeting of the new “Ford Country Club” was held. Two current members – Paul Forgrave carried on as President and George Crothers became the Secretary – Treasurer.
One of the first events of 1990 was the Club entry at Speed Sport. Christmas Daddies was selected as the charity that would be supported for that year. A donation was also made to the Moncton Hospital. Since then, the club has been a major supporter of the Canadian Deafblind Association along with many donations to other charities.
The Club held its annual Father’s Day car show at hotels in the Magnetic Hill area for many years. In recent years, the show has moved to Caseley Park in Riverview.
